Military Museum is designed exactly to relate to existing architecture, rocks and green vegetation. In order to enhance the contrast between the existing architecture elements, we develop a long and low profile realised by weathering steel layer, a pure geometric volume against the complexity and the contradiction of the place where it has designed to be.
Six cubic elements pop-up from main continuous volume, to bring light and embracing visitors with unique views. They pay tribute to maritime world, looking like a modern portholes into this museum. The surprise and a learning itinerary is the basis on which the success of every museum lies.
The memorial instead is conceived as a concrete block covered outside by a weathering steel layer. This is designed to create entwine with nature using a narrow and tall interior. A soft light from the top and a silent enclosed space hit guests perception creating a sense of respect and intimacy.
